  • Overview

    Our Speech Pathologist will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology or similar.

    Experience:

    • Prior experience diagnosing and treating speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children. 

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Licensed to practice by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

    Responsibilities

    1. Evaluate levels of speech, language, or swallowing difficulty
    2. Identify treatment options
    3. Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan that addresses specific functional needs
    4. Teach individuals how to make sounds and improve their voices and maintain fluency
    5. Help individuals improve vocabulary and sentence structure used in oral and written language
    6. Work with individuals to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow
    7. Counsel individuals and families on how to cope with communication and swallowing disorders
    8. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
    9. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
    10. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
    11. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
    12. Perform other duties as assigned.
