Postdoctoral Forensic Psychology Fellow

Correct Care Recovery Solutions (CCRS) has partnered with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections to comprehensively manage and provide medical and mental health care, forensic mental health evaluation and treatment, substance abuse treatment and dental services to patients at Bridgewater State Hospital.  CCRS is seeking qualified professionals to be part of this innovative program that will deliver care in accordance with a person-centered, trauma-informed recovery/resiliency philosophy.  CCRS’ overall goal is to improve patients’ levels of functioning and wellness for a successful recovery and discharge from the hospital.  CCRS has several exciting employment opportunities based at Bridgewater State Hospital for individuals to work alongside visionary leaders committed to improving public health.  When you work at a CCRS facility, you have an opportunity to make a difference every single day.

Our Postdoctoral Forensic Psychology Fellow conducts forensic evaluations under the supervision of a Designated Forensic Psychologist. Evaluates individuals with suspected mental health difficulties often around issues of Competence to Stand Trial (CST) or Criminal Responsibility (CR), aid-in-sentencing, violence risk assessment and civil commitment related to mental illness.

Education:

• Doctorate from an APA approved doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology. 
• Completion of a psychology internship prior to beginning the postdoctoral residency.
• Dissertation successfully defended prior to the beginning of the postdoctoral fellowship.

Experience:

• Experience with SPMI population is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

• None required

1. Performs court ordered evaluations, commitment and recommitment evaluations pursuant to the provisions of M.G.L. c. 123.
2. Coordinates with inpatient multi-disciplinary treatment teams and the courts around forensic issues and discharge planning.
3. Provides expert testimony to the court.
4. Participates in all required fellowship didactics and seminar series at Bridgewater State Hospital and Boston University.
5. Completes thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of evaluations that are consistent with professional standards and hospital procedures.
6. Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats patient as an individual, and considers the culture of the patient when providing care and treatment. Demonstrates cultural competency in all aspects of duties performed.
7. Provides ongoing support and ensures staff adheres to organization’s Code of Conduct. 
8. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
9. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
10. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
11. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis. 
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
