    Overview

    Our Associate Medical Director is responsible for the clinical programs of the assigned region including patient care duties when necessary. Provides clinical supervision to site Medical Directors and health care providers, as well as general supervision to practitioners in clinical disciplines other than medicine. Also provides consultation to nursing, practitioners, and clients as appropriate while being an active member of the CCS Medical Staff Organization.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Medical school graduate

    Experience:

    • Two (2) years minimum of administrative experience in clinical systems preferred
    • Three (3) years or more of direct patient care experience in a correctional institution preferred
    • Two (2) or more years of clinical practice in a managed care system preferred, correctional experience counts

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Board eligible or certified in primary care specialty preferred
    • Current licensure as a Medical Doctor within applicable states
    • Must be able to obtain licensure in states within region
    • Current CPR certification
    • Current DEA certificate
    • Must obtain and maintain security clearance at sites within region

    Responsibilities

    1. Functions as "health authority" for assigned region.
    2. Participates in site MAC and P&T Committee meetings.
    3. Participates in the CCS Medical Staff Organization, P & T meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
    4. Serves as a liaison with the administrative staff, the health care community within and outside of the correctional health care community, clients, and interest groups.
    5. Participates in the hiring, termination, assessment of site Medical Directors, and health care providers to include dentists and psychiatrists in assigned region.
    6. Respond to a code or health emergency within standard guidelines.
    7. Conducts Medical Director and health care provider on-boarding, mentoring, and training.
    8. Serves as the clinical consultant for site and regional medical and administrative personnel.
    9. Assists in the development of the clinical and managerial skills of the site Medical Directors and health care providers.
    10. Assists with the development and implementation of CCS clinical guidelines, polices, and procedures.
    11. Responsible for monitoring CCS clinical guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
    12. Monitors and controls the use of pharmaceutical products to provide appropriate and cost-effective therapy for the population served by CCS.
    13. Assists in the review and approval of off-site service requests.
    14. Assists in the annually review of clinical guidelines, care management policies, and procedures and makes recommendations for modification as appropriate.
    15. Provides medical services as necessary. Monitor or implement legal compliance measures X Customarily and regularly direct the work of at least 2 or more full-time employees or their equivalent (1 full-time employee at 40 and 2 half-time employees at 20 hours each , are equivalent to 2 full-time employees). X Authority to hire or fire other employees, or makes suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion or any other change of status of other employees are given particular weight.
    16. Perform other duties as assigned.
