Our Nursing Education and Training Supervisor is the company resource for all training matters that relate to the delivery of clinical nursing services. Provides planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of training to nursing and other health care staff. Supports nursing operations through clinical nursing competency evaluation, education, and orientation. Position requires a professional Registered Nurse with experience in the practice of correctional nursing and expertise in administration of nursing services and industry accrediting regulations. Highly visible position and requires collaboration with other departments to ensure consistent communication. Provides support to the Sr. Manager of Nursing Services and participates in departmental planning, strategy, and operation.



  • Bachelor of Science required
  • Master of Science Degree from an accredited School of Nursing preferred


  • Five (5) or more years nursing experience in any nursing discipline
  • Five (5) or more years of correctional nursing or leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing training programs and adult learning methodologies is required in a supervisory role
  • Excellent public speaking, relationship management and staff management skills are also required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and presentation software is desired


  • Current license as a Registered Nurse
  • Ciurrent CPR Certification


  1. Coordinates the delivery of training to nursing disciplines, and evaluate all clinical training programs to ensure clinical activities are congruent with the CCS mission and state licensure requirements.
  2. Provides an appropriate climate for learning and facilitate the adult learning process by developing, planning and presenting training opportunities. Opportunities should include access to resources for independent learning, on-line learning/webinar, and face to face learning opportunities.
  3. In conjunction with other CCS clinical leadership, participates in strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services, assuring consideration is given to the training aspects of any initiative.
  4. Assesses nursing competence, identifies problems, and acts as an educator/mentor to improve nursing skills and practice based on up-to-date nursing literature, evidence based practices, and standards of care.
  5. Facilitates a program that supports supervision of any unlicensed assistive personnel according to state requirements as applicable.
  6. Integrates Continuous Quality Improvement and Accreditation & Compliance requirements into educational opportunities and development of resources.
  7. Provides coordination and supervision as requested for Regional Nursing Support & Training Specialists. Monitors project timelines, action item progress, and deliverables with reporting and status updates to departmental leadership.
  8. Serves as the point of contact for training needs, requests, and nursing improvement initiatives. Identifies and communicates priorities to senior nursing leadership.
  9. Assumes individual accountability for own conduct and maintenance of professional attitude and appearance.
  10. Identifies internal and external learning resources.
  11. Ensures accountability & oversees processes that support the contractual obligations for nursing and other clinical services within CCS.
  12. Participates in nursing activities in corrections, which promote growth and development of nursing and/or quality patient care.
  13. Participates on CCS committees that have an impact on system training strategies and overall performance. Cooperate in the design and delivery of corporate training and leadership programs that extend beyond the clinical realm.
  14. Assures that all training programs that are provided are consistent with all applicable standards and requirements of ACA, NCCHC, the State Boards of Nursing or other licensing Board, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.
  15. Evaluates clinical workflow and nursing practice in correctional facilities and makes recommendations for improved quality, safety, and processes in collaboration with operations and other department leadership.
  16. Incorporates standards of care and industry best practices and evidence based practices when participating in development of company curriculum and educational materials.
  17. Assists site leadership (DON/HSA) with identification of appropriate and current CCS nursing educational materials, tools, and resources for use at point of care.
  18. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  19. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  20. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  21. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned.
